Overview
Our first newsletter focuses on, amongst others:
The Entrepreneurship and Bakery courses offered to our members;
The successful completion of our members' bakery course in January 2021, following a six-months course;
Our annual "Down Syndrome Awareness Campaign" on our social medias, to raise awareness and promote the acceptance of persons with Down syndrome in Mauritius;
The international publication of our two Fashionistas - Mishka and Mandinee - for the World Down Syndrome Day at https://www.worlddownsyndromeday.org/stories .
Achievements
YWDEP's Empowerment Weekend, which regrouped professionals and experts in several sectors as well as our members and their families. The attendees benefited from a weekend at Coral Apartments where they met and shared with others in their situation and from various lectures, conferences, and workshops by the speakers present especially for the occasion.
Call to the Bar: Our P.R.O, Zahra Hosaneea, was called to the Degree of the Utter Bar of England and Wales in March 2021 and is now ready to start the next step of her career.
Community Based Rehabilitation: Ferozia Hosaneea was officially elected as representative on the renowned regional forum of the CBR and was also appointed as translator thereof.
Cook with Zeke Episode 1: One of many more to come, Cook with Zeke is an entertaining cooking video which aims at showing the true potentials of persons with disabilities.
